TheVideoArtFoundation en colaboración con Impakt festival lanza la segunda convocatoria abierta para seleccionar obras que pasen a formar parte de la colección de videoDictionary.

videoDictionary se presentó en Londres en la primavera de 2004. Desde entonces ha sido expuesto en Madrid (La Casa Encendida), Londres (Island Art Film and Video Festival) y Barcelona (Centre d'Art Santa Mònica). En los próximos meses la colección viajara a Utrecht, NL (Impakt Festival) y León E (MUSAC).

TheVideoArtFoundation busca ahora nuevas palabras para la colección. Gracias al apoyo de distintas instituciones se podrán seleccionar un mínimo de 10 nuevos videos/palabras.

La fecha límite de recepción de obras es el 15 de Noviembre. Formulario de inscripción.

VideoDictionary es un proyecto en constante actualización. TheVideoArtFoundation deja abierta la recepción de nuevos videos/palabras, que entrarán a formar parte de la siguiente convocatoria.

Características de los videos

Existen muchas maneras de realizar un vídeo adecuado para videoDictionary: como descripción o una simple definición, como aproximación poética, como visión irónica..

Los puntos fundamentales a tener en cuenta son:
Los vídeos NO pueden contener palabras ni en la banda sonora ni en las imágenes.

La manera en que las imágenes se relacionan con la palabra es el aspecto más importante a tener en cuenta para que los trabajos pasen a formar parte del vD. Pretendemos que cada obra aporte algo interesante sobre esta relación.

El título (la palabra descrita) precede siempre a la obra. El artista debe tener en cuenta que el espectador conoce la palabra mientras ve el vídeo y puede establecer relaciones entre ésta y las imágenes que está viendo.

Son preferibles las obras especialmente realizadas pensando en el concepto del proyecto (la relación entre las palabras y la imagen en movimiento). No obstante, se aceptan adaptaciones de trabajos anteriores.

Los vídeos deben tener una duración de un minuto. el título y los créditos relevantes aparecerán antes de cada vídeo/palabra en un formato standard.

Varios vídeos del mismo artista pueden ser incluídos en la selección. Si el artista quiera mandar varias obras éstas serán bienvenidas.

Los formatos, por orden de preferencia, son: cinta mini DV; CD-Rom con archivo AVI o MOV; DVD con compresión standard; cinta VHS. Otros formatos de cinta o de archivo no serán aceptados.
La organización atenderá consultas previas a la realización de trabajos específicos para el proyecto.

New opencall

TheVideoArtFoundation, in collaboration with Impakt festival, is launching the second open call to select new works to be included on the videoDictionary programme.

videoDictionary was presented in London in spring 2004. Since then it has been show in Madrid (La Casa Encendida), London (Island Art Film and Video Festival) and Barcelona (Centre d'Art Santa Mònica). Currently 55 words constitute the collection. On the next months videoDictionary is traveling to   Utrecht ,The Netherlands (Impakt Festival) and León , Spain (MUSAC).

At least 10 new words/works from the open call would be included with the help of these organizations.

Deadline is 15 November. Inscription form.

VideoDictionary is a project subject to constant updating. New works can be sent at all times. It would be considered on the next selection of works.

Regulations

To create a work suitable for the videoDictionary artists have to select a word and make one minute video about it. It could be a very minimal or descriptive definition, a poetic approach, an ironic or contrasted vision of the word, etc.

Not words should be on the soundtrack or the images.

The title (the defined word) always will precede the work, so the artist has to bear in mind that viewer would know the word before seeing the images, and will relate every image with the title.

The way the images related to the word is the most important aspect for us to include the work on the collection. We want every new work included in the collection to tell something interesting about this relationship.

We are especially interested in receiving custom made works but  adaptations of past works are also accepted.

We can consider including several videos of the same artist in the selection. If you want to send several works they will be welcome.

The videos must be one minute of moving images without words. You should not put titles within this minute. We will include title and relevant credits on a standard format to be played before the video.

About formats: The best, the cheapest and most efficient is a CD-rom with an AVI or MOV DV file. MiniDV tapes are almost as good. Then DVD standard compression. Then VHS. Other tapes or file types are not acceptable. If work is selected we would require a MiniDV tape or DV quality file.

Artists selected from the open call will be candidates for the next commissions.
